I did multiple tests to verify this. I used a download manager to utilize multiple connections and a 'traditional' download using only one connection. I did the same at my WAN2 Router to rule out the uplink isn't performing, with the expected result of getting a little bit more than 400MBit/s. I'm circumventing this issue by running a fasttrack rule on WAN2, but that comes with it's known drawbacks. Is there anything i'm missing? I'm also fearing further issues since I plan to additionally deploy IPv6. WAN2 could run IPv6, but their CPE doesn't support Prefix Delegation, and i'm still looking for a replacement which supports a bridge mode. Good news is that WAN1 doesn't run IPv6, so no additional PCC here. Here goes my config. Please note that there aren't any meaningful filter rules yet because i don't want to add further trouble while debugging this. These will be added later, that is if it doesn't mean any further impact on performance. Things like DNS, DHCP and the likes are handled by a server within my LAN. You seem to re-set the connection mark for every packet that's coming through. This isn't needed due to connection tracking. It would be more elegant (and much more efficient) to only do it for the first packet to a connection, i.e. A connection state of 'new'. Then only the following two checks for connection mark are needed for every packet. If you do it like I suggest, you can also switch to just use a random number instead of a modulus to set the connection mark. This will help average out the times where you hit the slower connection. Otherwise, for certain external IPs, you will always 'go slow'. Thanks for your input. I limited pcc to new connections only, and while it indeed reduced the cpu load considerably, my speedtest still only archives about 200mbits. I need some help on that modulus thing, though. I take it the main idea behind PCC is to balance the overall load between each uplink. If only two rules would be used, PCC would distribute the load 50/50, which means one uplink hits it's limit of 50mbits, the other one would idle around at one-eighth of it's capacity. Thats why i need that many rules. If i distribute the load random, wouldn't i end up at the exact same result of a 50/50 distribution? You're correct, a random distribution would lead to a similar load sharing on average. However, with per-connection-classifier=both-addresses, the sharing will be deterministically done by both IP addresses to a connection.
